Serco Test Engineer - US Navy in San Diego, California
Position Description
Serco is looking for an experienced and enthusiastic team member to join a high-profile and challenging project supporting the US Navy. The EOD ROV Test Engineer will provide engineering and technical services to develop underwater systems, and to support Test and Evaluation (T&E) events in a maritime environment for the Naval Information Warfare Center Pacific (NIWC Pacific) Unmanned Maritime Vehicles Laboratory (UMV Lab).
You will be part of a team that works closely with the customer and other Serco team members to deliver high technology Naval systems. You will provide technical support for our customer as part of an integrated team on-site in San Diego, CA.
This job includes managing a variety of test and evaluation efforts for the integration and characterization of new capabilities on remotely operated vehicles (ROVs).
In this role, you will:
Leading engineering efforts to integrate new capabilities and sensors into existing systems.
Decomposing functional and performance requirements into test criteria and events.
Operational or developmental experience with unmanned maritime systems, such as Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs) or Unmanned Underwater Vehicles (UUVs).
Operational or developmental experience with maritime disciplines such as navigation, acoustics, autonomy, machine learning and perception.
Working closely with vendors and original equipment managers (OEMs) to determine form, fit and function requirements and coordinate prototype development.
Experience with writing performance requirements, capability specifications, performance specifications and technical performance measurements.
Developing test and evaluation plans based on performance specifications.
Test event director for a full spectrum of evaluation scenarios, including dry bench tests, pier side events and open ocean events.
Leading at-sea operational events, including working on small boats under a variety of depths and operational conditions
Manage the data collection, aggregation, and analysis process, including developing data collection plans, monitoring data collection throughout an evaluation period, conduct post-event analysis, and write test reports.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role you must have:
A Bachelor's degree and candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of demonstrated experience
Position requires ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance in order to receive a Common Access Card (CAC)
The ability to take general direction and develop an executable plan of action. Work with a wide variety of team members, including engineers, technicians, lab personnel, end-users and military operators, vendors and OEMs.
Lead teams through requirements development, prototype development, test and evaluation planning, and event execution.
High-functioning managerial and leadership skills
Ability to travel 25%
In compliance with state and local laws regarding pay transparency, the salary for this role is $91,701.62 to $152,836.04; however, Serco considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills.
