Serco Transition Director in Ottawa, Ontario

Position Description

SUMMARY/PURPOSE:

Provide full support and oversight on all areas of the contract and lead the Transition by supporting the teams and Program Director by:

  • Developing and maintaining the Program Transition Strategy to align with the Program schedule and delivery approach; identify internal and external resources required to support transition plan.

  • Lead external outreach to partner and potential subcontract organizations required for service delivery, in line with Social and Indigenous plans and targets, to support program transition activities.

  • Assurance and approval of Serco Transition deliverables including: Strategy(s), Transition Plan(s), and Transition schedules as complete, appropriate and credible.

  • Assurance and approval of all Serco program Transition deliverables and milestones are suitable and manage their approval through appropriate (Authority) governance forums.

  • Manage and support the preparation and execution of Authority transition activities.

  • To support the operational directors in the effective and efficient delivery of the service to the customer.

  • Ensure the contract meet commitments on profitability, Service Level Agreements and Material Obligations.

  • Ensure full compliance of the SMS and local policies/procedures and promote business continuity and continuous improvement within all teams on the contract.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • This role is key for the Leadership and future development of the contract, being the SME to the customers on Transition as well as supporting the Program Director.

  • Complete and maintain the Program Transition Strategy to align with the Program schedules and delivery approach.

  • Maintain tight financial controls and service standards combined with the continuous drive to achieve process improvement.

  • Own the Transition plan and ensure all milestones are achieved both internally and with Partners.

  • To develop, agree and support a robust strategy and annual plans for the contract to meet their contractual requirements and business targets.

  • To develop an excellent relationship with the contract customer, to anticipate future needs and continue to deliver growth and value for money for the customer.

  • Delivery of commitments to Serco in line with all Governance and the SMS.

This is a “term” position. Your employment will commence upon completion of background checks and the agreed upon start date. The position is anticipated to last for a term up to (12) months with the possibility of an extension.

This position is open to contractors.

Qualifications

EDUCATION /CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Qualified to degree level (Engineering or Business Administration) or equivalent experience and membership of appropriate professional body and/or forums.

  • Qualified in formal Program Management methodologies (e.g. PMP).

  • Must have worked in a highly competitive environment where service and quality of delivery are key elements of the business proposition.

  • A proven track record of delivery, experience within facility or property management, but focussed on growth, delivery on projects, customer service levels and people development.

KNOWLEDGE and EXPERENCE

  • 10 + years’ experience or practical knowledge of

  • Property or Facility management

  • large-scale technical services programme delivery – specifically transition between Service Suppliers that addresses the complexities of delivery that spans multiple but inter-related suppliers and technologies.

  • Must have senior management/Director experience in a customer facing contract environment. You will be experienced in delivery of support services and able to demonstrate that you can lead and inspire your team and make an impact from day one

  • Interpersonal communication requirements

  • Ability to lead a step change in performance through operational improvement and strong leadership.

  • Possesses a thorough understanding of the dynamics of a service.

  • Excellent influencing skills and personal presence to make representation at the highest levels both externally and internally, formally, and informally, establishing confidence and respect both for the functions represented and as an individual.

  • Financial or technical skills

  • Ability to establish professional and rigorous account development work in conjunction with the rest of the SLT team to ensure the contract team are alert and proactive.

  • Ability to deliver the contract in line with the commitment, including ad-hoc additional challenges.

  • Ensure tight and effective financial management to achieve profit and cash targets

  • Excellent commercial acumen and negotiation skills with a drive for outstanding customer service and high-performance culture

  • Knowledge of ITIL / LEAN /AGILE principles

  • Problem solving skills

  • Good knowledge and practical experience of multi-perspective Transition state definition and maintenance.

  • Leadership skills

  • Ability to lead a step change in performance through operational improvement and strong leadership.

  • An energetic leader with the ability to create and communicate a compelling vision and sense of purpose that motivates teams at all levels
